Blessed are the Pure in Heart (Matthew 5:8)
Neil Awbrey, August 23, 2009In case you cannot tell, I am in the midst of a series of messages concerning the centrality of the heart. Last week, we found that brokenness is the first condition of the heart required by God (Psalm 51). This week, we discover that purity is another essential condition, and follows brokenness. The greatest possible blessing comes to those who are pure in heart – seeing God! Therefore, if you desire to see and experience God in your life, moving and working, you will seek to nurture a pure heart before Him. To see God in the life of your family, your church, your workplace – maintain a pure heart. It is the greatest gift you can both receive and give. There is also, of course, the future aspect of seeing God when we are glorified.
Matthew 5:8
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (ASV)
